Pengersick Castles Investigations 2006 - Cornwall
Pengersick Castle - 21st January 2006

A group of 15 intrepid investigators made it into Cornwall in order to carry out another investigation into Pengersick Castle. Those that had not attended the castle before were taken into the grounds by Will Brunning whilst the remainder carried out a vigil in the bedroom. We treated to several excellent light anomalies accompanied by the usual equipment failures. Batteries on several users cameras died without any warning and the DVDs that were taken appear to have been erased! We are still working to recover some of the material. A thermal and humidity logger was left on the bed throughout although the fluctuation in degrees was .5 and average temperature ambient was 10.5 C. A laser thermometer recorded drops to 6C in some areas of the room.
More time was spent in the grounds on this event with teams placed in the Plague burial ground and the watered area to the side of the castle. Most of the team reported (separately) of being uneasy in the burial ground area and a later photo taken showed a strange mist. Smoking was ruled out and the mist appears to have been localised. Within a later group two independent witnesses experienced a tall shape moving to their front. Our thanks as ever to Ian Addicoat from the PRO for arranging the venue and a special thanks to our own resident team Dave and J9 who did a sterling job organising the event - Thankyou team!

Report 2
Pengersick Castle - June 2006
A group of 11 members of Haunted Devon made the trip to Pengersick for what for some and exciting yet for others quiet evening. As usual all the team members met at the Coach and Horses pub at Rosudgeon where an assortment of steaks and fish were consumed with much gusto. BJ kindly led the way to the castle a place he has visited MANY times - however he promptly got lost taking a short diversion on the Helston road claiming "it is all part of the experience!" after much waving of arms from the team behind him BJ eventually decided to return to Pengersick. On arrival the teams were briefed by Ron Kirby and the Tech team set about unpacking "Arnold with legs" and various other items of equipment.

Team A: For the early part of the evening team A spent split into smaller groups in the grounds and prior to entering the tower. The old chapel area seemed unusually active with several light anomalies captured on camera. Trace who was outside the group at the time felt quite uncomfortable and stated that she felt that she was being pulled into the trees. Still a little shaken Trace moved into the woods and described how she felt that something was pulling her solar plexus somewhat disturbed Trace eventually found Tracy and the pair retreated to the relative sanctuary of the car park. This particular feeling was felt in different ways by Jason and Lucy who stated that " they were being surrounded". The plague burial ground was unusually quiet and no major incidents were recorded by the group.

Walled garden area - light above Byron or shutter problems?
Team B: 20:35 Paul Noticed a disturbance in the ground of the old chapel, Tracy then located the same spot with her dowsing rods and determined there was a presence there. Ron Kirby then joined in with his dowsing and crystal and determined there was in fact a spirit of a 46 year old male that had died (possible on that spot) when the old chapel collapsed around 1630. Alexander the cat also looked interested. Alexander still roaming the castle! 2100- 22:15 Ron Paul, Tracy headed to the healers house while the other team members carried out a vigil a little distance away in the plague burial area. George and new member Archie (Both K9 Investigators also tagged along). Ron advised Tracy to accept healing between the two logs while facing the stones (pictures of this attached). Tracy noticed a feeling of great comfort and rest At this point George become agitated and Ron strongly felt he was seeing something happening around Tracy George . Ron then when on to perform healing on Tracy himself with great effect.
For those who don't know Tracy suffers with chronic back pain due to a degenerative spinal condition. 22:25ish Tracie's team joined Bj's team in the bedroom and immediately both Tracy and Paul saw a football sized orb with the naked eye move in a horse shoe pattern around another team member (Paul Swords). Tech Team The Tech team started by placing capacitors in various positions within the Castle. These were placed in The Solar, The Master Bedroom and at the very top of the castle, in a hole in one of the walls. The team proceeded to the woods in order to carry out a vigil. Fran settled down in her chair at the lower end of the woods very near The Hanging Trees. She sensed that something is watching us. Brian wandered towards the higher part of the woods where he met up with Paul & Dave. Brian captures a strange mist on camera Brian captured this mist on two separate shots. Apart from that the woods appeared to be very quiet so we eventually made our way into the Castle itself.

Solar room - daunting for some The Solar The Tech team moved into the solar for our next vigil. This room was deemed to have a heavy miserable feeling about it. Brian took a seat in the corner opposite the door. Almost immediately he felt his throat begin to tighten and he started to cough and splutter. Brian didn’t know why this had happened but moved out of the corner towards the window area and decided to sit there. Almost immediately he started to feel very unwell his stomach was becoming very painful. Brian had seen small lights moving in the corners of the rooms and Fran senses we are not alone and there are spirits watching us. Brian sensed a very evil atmosphere in this room and due to the pain he had to leave the room. On Brian leaving the Castle the pain immediately subsided. After Brian had recovered he attempted to re enter the Solar Room however he began to feel unwell and eventually was forced to leave.
The master bedroom - the bed the scene of much activity! The Master bedroom Tracy is sitting near the bed. Brian decided to walk over to that area. We both suddenly smell the scent of lavender (it could have been violets). The smell is only in that area for a short time and it seems to move past us both and disappear. The others leave after a while and Brett, Fran & Brian stayed in the room for an hour. We occasionally sense movement near the bed but don’t really experience much out of the ordinary here. Eventually we decide that we have seen enough and make our way out of the Castle.

Conclusion
Some good results from the team as a whole. Some unusual activity within the woods in the area of the Chapel where several members became aware of the change in the atmosphere and others became agitated. Most of the activity occurred throughout dusk and not whilst dark. The Master bedroom was initially VERY active with 40 minutes of light anomalies - and one major orb visible to the naked eyes of several members of the group. The smell of lavender or violets was smelt by several members of the team for a short time. The solar was quiet for some however Brian was very disturbed within the area and has vowed NEVER to return (I am convinced that he will!). My thanks to ALL who submitted to make up this report - our thanks also to all at Pengersick both living and departed! History There is evidence of 5000 years of history at Pengersick, going back to the Bronze Age. The original family possessed of these lands, settled here in the 12th century. They took their name from the place. The outline of their extensive residence and associated village settlement, chapel and garden has been identified through archaeological evidence and geophysical survey. The Pengersicks were amongst the most notorious families in the county and their exploits have given rise to the numerous legends associated with the name. It does appear that fate has always taken a hand in the destiny of those who have resided here. Plague and pestilence resulted in a break in the direct inheritance during the 15th century. A dynastic marriage of the surviving heiress resulted in the creation of a magnificent, fortified Tudor dwelling. It is the dual tower complex of this, which survives today. Its spacious newel stair is one of the best to be found anywhere in the country. Above from the Pengersick website: http://www.pengersickcastle.com/

Trigger objects
Placed in master bedroom – coins and cross – no discernable movement detected
The CCTV cart was tested and found working satisfactorily - no recordings where taken at this event with this equipment .
Generally for the Tech team this was a disappointing investigation – some strange mists where photographed by Brian in the plague pit area – but Brett picked up nothing of interest on the photos and what anomalies that where detected on the video footage taken , have been dismissed as dust or insects upon examination on a large TV – no apparent EVP was recorded on any tech team equipment .
The team left site at approximately 0030 hrs -17 th June
