A new members comments on Haunted Devon

I have always had an interest in all things paranormal so earlier this year when I was asked by a family member to go a ghost with tickets won in a competition although completely petrified I agreed to go. This was the start of what has become a fantastic new hobby for me.   After the initial investigation I searched the internet to see what was available to attend more investigations. I found and attended a good few investigations run by commercial companies and enjoyed most of them. The problem I had was finding someone always readily available to go with me.  

By chance I came across the HD site and was reading the reports of previous investigations and realised there was an investigation to Exeter Castle coming up. I booked with a couple of friends and had a great night. What made HD differerent was at the end of the night as I was leaving I was asked if I was attending the next investigation at Salem. Neither of my friends were able to attend so after saying no, probably not I was answered with "come on your own, we can sort a lift for you, you'll be fine".   After much deliberating (did I want to go on a Ghost Hunt with a bunch of people I didn't know) I booked and Nial and Claire very kindly gave me a lift (having only met me briefly at Exeter.

That evening was brilliant, everyone chatted to me and made me feel included every step of the way. This was definately what I needed, the ablility to pursue my hobby without having to rely on friends to go with me.   Since Salem I have been on one of the Dartmoor venues and more recently Bodmin Jail, with which I got involved in making bits and pieces for the event and helping at the kids ghost hunt.

Theres no airs and graces, everyone is very friendly and a great deal of mickey taking is par for the course whilst at the same time the investigations are made in a professional manner with all the relevant baselines and equipment.

Hopefully if they can put up with me I will continue my membership for a long time!
